Dr. Bree Valensin is originally from Northern California, where she was raised on her family’s cattle ranch – or as she likes to joke, raised by Boogs, a beloved quarter horse, who more or less looked after her from the time she could take the reins on her own. It’s safe to say her love and passion for the horse was founded at an early age! Eventually Dr. Bree and her family transitioned from the corral to the cutting pen, spent many years hauling for regional and national titles, and finally landed in Weatherford, TX. Dr. Valensin always knew that she was destined for a career in veterinary medicine, however along the way, also developed a deep love for history. She attended University of the Pacific for undergraduate course work and received her Bachelor’s of History. She then went on to Midwestern University’s College of Veterinary Medicine to pursue her lifelong dream, and graduated with her doctorate of veterinary medicine in 2019.
Following graduation, Dr. Bree Valensin sought to further advance her training in equine medicine. She was offered and accepted a position as an equine intern with Chaparral Veterinary Medical Center in Cave Creek, AZ. Chaparral is a fast-paced, high density referral and primary medicine practice wherein Dr. Bree found professional interest in managing colics, repairing lacerations and wounds, preventative and sports medicine, acupuncture, neonatal care, and her favorite: running general anesthesia for surgical procedures.
In her spare time, you can find her hiking the trails with her Belgian Malinois, Audie, or riding her cutting horse, Hal. (Source)
