About Colton DeCock

I am a young farrier and have been shoeing for 4 years now since I went to horse shoeing school. I am looking to further my education to be able to provide more therapeutic services to my clients.

Geographic Area Serviced: I am located in Castroville Texas and service the surrounding areas. I will soon be servicing the Amarillo area on a schedule as well.

Area of Expertise: Experienced in performance horses ranging from cow horses to show horses. I use a variety of steel shoes and aluminum shoes depending on the needs of the horses.

Types of Horses: I currently shoe a lot of quarter horses in various disciplines from roping to cutting. I also plate a lot of race horses both Arabian and thoroughbred.

    My local vet’s office suggested I contact Colton to trim hooves on my two donkeys, whose hooves were badly overgrown. Colton came out in the time frame he said he would, and he did a great job of trimming hooves and starting them on the road to hoof correction. They had walked a long time with messed up hooves and it resulted in malignment of bones in the lower leg. It hurt for them to walk the pasture and rocky hills. They are moving about more easily already. Good young man who does good work. I will certainly ask him to return to stay on top of the donkeys’ hoof trimming/care.
