Place has lots of potential, but…

Piles and piles of stuff everywhere.

Other comments mentioned it was that it was a quiet place, yes, people on the campground are very quiet and respectful. But not so quit when the neighbours dogs (on all sides of the property) aren’t barking at every hour of the day and evening, when a train ain’t passing, even at 10:30 pm, or traffic of highway 1. But the climax is when the neighbours started shooting his revolver, mind you, they’re only 75 feet away from the back of our trailer… scary!

Trail entry is a bit more than half a mile away, by roads, but they are really beautiful, spacious and safe.

Horses had a nice sized paddock with shelter, but it was quite a challenge to pick up their manure and keep it clean due to all the dead leaves, pine needles, pine cones, old hay and manure, so took us 2 days of picking it all up and cleaning their space. You’re welcome!

Site is good sized to, easy coming in and out, but took a day of raking dead leaves and pine needles away, and even after cleaning it up, we continued to find, daily, chards of broken glass, so not pet friendly. Again, you’re welcome!

We had planned to be there for 1 month, but decided to leave after 3 weeks. A “respectful” host would have had the site cleaned up before our arrival. We were under the impression we had paid to do the clean up. Oh, and no “Thankyou” or “Sorry, I didn’t to do it before you arrived” it was as if it was expected from us. So, once again, you’re welcome!

We were told by the owner that, quote “people around here are nasty”…it just makes us wonder, why? If you demand respect, you gotta expect to respect in return.

    Response to Dogman Ranch,

You originally reserved a site and corrals for 1 month then called to delay your arrival over a week due to an illness. I kept your site available. You arrived and said you didn’t know how long you were going to stay, and by the way I need health papers for my horses to get back into Canada. Can you arrange for a vet to come out. I was happy to help them.
I offered my personal pony/goat pen for their two horses so they would have a larger area than what they originally reserved. They could have turned it down.
The Manuer was removed. If I missed one pile I apologize. This lot is slopped, the pine needle and leaves help reduce erosion. You wanted to take it up and I didn’t stop you….
The piles of downed trees, clearing, lumber from building projects and old hay are around my private barn/pony lot not where guests are normally allowed. You are the first guest I offered it too, you could have said no thank you and used the smaller pen for your horses.
Before you arrived I had just gotten home from sleeping in my car at a truck stop for 15 days trying to be there for a friend in the hospital 7 hours away from home. I then took on the job of packing up her home for her as she had been in the process of moving. So excuse me if I seemed occupied and didn’t offer to jump in and help you and your husband rake up pine needles.
The real problem is this guest decided she is above the rules for not taking dogs onto the horse trails. Once she explained to me she was doing this each morning AND setting her dog loose! She admitted to knowing it was against the trail and my rules. My farm rules say you will be kicked off my property if you take dogs on the trails.
I was very nice and asked her not to do it again. Two days later I find her heading out with her dog. I go and ask her where she is going. She said I am taking my dog to the trails and I did it yesterday as well!!!
I was angry. I told her to stay off the horse trails. I did say if she had run into riders they wouldn’t be nice. I told her she was endangering the riders and their horses. I went back to her campsite and had a discussion with her husband and her travel mates explaining what she had done and that it was to stop.
I didn’t kick her off my farm. Where was she going to go with her horses and with no health certificate she couldn’t go home.
In the end I was above generous and kind to this woman.
I am proud of my farm, I planned, cleared and built this business myself. It is a beautiful farm. This woman got caught breaking safety rule in front of her friends. It speaks only to her character not myself nor my farm.

I wanted to share my wonderful experience with Daily Walk Stables. My pony, Moonie and myself participated in two separate training sessions, on her farm (at the campground) each lasting several months. During that time, I visited almost daily, and was consistently impressed by the peaceful atmosphere. The campers were incredibly friendly and welcoming, creating a truly positive and enjoyable environment. The trails themselves are a highlight – beautifully maintained, easily accessible for riders of all levels, and offering diverse and scenic routes. I especially want to commend Lynna for her exceptional helpfulness and kindness throughout the entire process. Her dedication and expertise were invaluable to both Moonie and me.

Love this place. Mellow and relaxing and very well kept. Not many places around the sandhills and the foundation to camp with your horses. The owner was a very knowledgeable horse person as well and very accommodating. Super close to everything including Pinehurst incase you also get a chance to go play a round of golf.
