Dr. Anderson grew up on a training farm in Massachusetts where he gained an appreciation for horses and the people who work with them. He received his undergraduate degree in Animal Science from the University of New Hampshire in 1986 and his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Tennessee, College of Veterinary Medicine in 1990. After completing an internship for Equine Medicine and Surgery at the Rochester Equine Clinic in New Hampshire, he became a founding associate of Salem Valley Veterinary Clinic where he practiced for 23 years. In 2014, he established Anderson Veterinary Services in Lebanon, CT.
Dr. Anderson believes that open, honest, and detailed communication is essential in order to deliver high quality veterinary care. With that goal in mind, Anderson Veterinary Services was established to provide the best team to help maintain the health of your horse. He consults with colleagues and specialists in the region and routinely collaborates with referral centers when appropriate.
He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the American Association of Equine Practitioners, as well as the Connecticut Veterinary Medical Association and the Northeast Association of Equine Practitioners.
His current interests include lameness, reproductive services, diagnostic imaging, and pre-purchase examinations. He provides these services as well as all routine health care to the clients of Anderson Veterinary Services at their farms as well as at dedicated equestrian facilities. His wife Mary is the practice Office Manager. They live in Lebanon, CT with their three children, Sophia, Jack, and Kate.
When not working or attending continuing education meetings, you may find Dr. Anderson with his black lab, “Josie”, practicing hunt tests in the Connecticut countryside. (Source)
