Eric Lockwood Swinebroad, DVM, DACVIM

A board-certified specialist in Equine Internal Medicine (DACVIM), “Dr. Lockwood” graduated in 1987 from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine (Blacksburg, VA.) and completed his residency in Equine Medicine and Lameness at Texas A&M University (2000-2006) where he remained to teach and to work in the Dept. of Anesthesia and Analgesia.

Prior to matriculating at TAMU, he was a clinical fellow in equine surgery at Oregon State University (Corvallis, Oregon 1995-1996) and an intern in equine medicine and surgery at the Chino Valley Equine Hospital (California, 1987-88).

Non-academic positions included equine ambulatory practices in San Jacinto, California (with Dr. Reg Rasner) and the Columbia Equine Hospital in Gresham, Oregon (w Drs. Scott Hansen and Lisa Campbell).

Dr. Lockwood was on the racetracks of California and the United Arab Emirates (Abu Dhabi and Dubai), with “running” Quarter Horses, Arabians, and Thoroughbreds (1989-1995). He is an Official FEI Veterinarian in the disciplines of Dressage, Para-Dressage, Combined Training, and Show-jumping and has attended shows in the USA and Europe, such as the Winter Equestrian Festival & Global Dressage (Wellington, FL), The Great Lakes Eq. Festival (Traverse City, MI), Rolex (KY), Radnor Hunt (PA), RamTap (CA) Rebecca Farms (MT), Tattersall’s, Punchestown (IRE), and Necarne Castle (N.IRL) CCI/CIC.

When not running equine calls on the East Coast, attending shows in USA and Europe, or traveling for photography, theatre, diving or skiing adventures, he resides in New Hampshire and Florida with cats Ruffian, Shakespeare, and Pippin. (Source)
