Happy started riding horses at 3 years old. She began show jumping on the A show circuit at age 6. Showing in both hunters and jumpers, she was successful through the Junior Hunters and Grand Prix jumper level. She qualified for the North American Young Riders Championships in show jumping in both 2004 and 2005, and rode for the zone VII team in 2005.
After graduating from Trinity University with majors in Political Science and Philosophy, Happy moved to Muelheim an Der Ruhr, Germany. There she began a 2-year certification program to become a professional equestrian. She studied and trained in classical riding. During her certification, she trained at the Gestuet Eschenbruch, working and competing both young dressage horses and jumping horses. In the summer of 2011, she took her certification exam in Warendorf, Germany, and passed with honors.
In the fall of 2011, Happy joined North Texas Equestrian Center as assistant trainer to Christian Heineking. After a year under Heineking’s guidance and following his departure from NTEC, Happy became the head jumping trainer. In her time at North Texas Equestrian Center, Comly had great success in both the jumper and hunter rings at shows across the country, and in 2014 she was ranked 3rd in the nation in USHJA Young Professional standings based on prize money won. After four years with North Texas Equestrian Center, Happy ventured out to start Comly Sport Horses and continues her focus on classical riding, training tailored to individual horses and riders, and a show program that continually delivers results.
Happy has won National and International Hunter Derbies as well as Grand Prix Horse Rider at regional and national standards. She has been recognized as a member of the USHJA 1.40 meter club, due to her consistent placings at that level. Comly has helped her students achieve many goals, including competing at the North American Young Rider Championships as well as the Pessoa Medal Finals at the Pennsylvania National Horse show. She will continue her successful career, training both horses and riders to compete at the highest levels and helping them to realize their dreams. (Source)
