It was love at first sight for Heidi and horses. Once her parents conceded their daughter’s love of horses, there was no turning back. Within a couple of weeks of starting lessons, they owned their first horse. During her junior years, she qualified for twenty Medal Finals, and won the Norcal Medal Finals. Grabbing the eyes of Bertalan de Nemethy, coach of the Olympic Team, Heidi was invited to ride with the US team in Gladstone, NJ. She then moved to Los Angeles to join Marcia Williams (2007 Show Jumping Hall of Fame inductee and USEF living Legend honoree, Show Hunter Hall of Fame inductee). Together, they produced numerous champions in both the hunter and jumper divisions in Southern California, and won many PCHA and AHSA Year-End Championships. After getting married, Heidi established her own business in British Columbia. She then returned to Northern California in 1984 where she started Boundary Gate. The Cowley family has resided at Boundary Gate where they have raised their own family as well as being a part of countless other families through the friendships the “barn” has fostered. Heidi continues to pursue her passion to teach and train riders and horses to be the best that they can be. (Source)
