Karen Chandler, DVM

Doctor Karen’s roots are back in the black swamp soil of Florida, where sunsets sink over the backs of alligators in tea-colored waters. From the time she was little, she knew that she wanted to be a veterinarian thanks to an elderly neighbor who introduced her to James Herriot. A mission trip to Belize at the age of sixteen helped her grasp how a veterinarian can help animals and people thrive. Through FFA, University of Florida (Go Gators…and yes, she loves Tim Tebow), a Texas internship that got her hitched, and a dual major masters degree in Public Health and doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Mizzou, She followed God’s lead to Morgan County, Colorado.

A self-admitted nerd and cat fanatic. Her passion is for food animal medicine and the people who are blessed to do daily what every city girl dreams of doing (riding ponies and kissing cowboys). She is humbled to be part of the day-to-day grind, ‘dirt’, snow and sweat while playing a role in the bigger picture of feeding the world, shaping the future and one day giving back through Christian Veterinary Missions (check out cvm.org to see out how vets are bringing hope around the world).

Karen is a lover of Jesus, she feels blessed to be married to an AMAZING man who is a farrier with whom she enjoys riding horses, worhsiping with, working together, running, cooking, football and calling Morgan county home. (Source)
