Karen Dallimore

Located near Orton, Ontario since 2007, I work with many different breeds and disciplines, with a keen interest in classical horsemanship, recreational trail, Extreme Cowboy racing, handling and behaviour. I’ve been helping people enjoy their horses since 1983, finding many little things that have been passed over or not clearly explained in your horsemanship journey so far. Lessons can be simply finding the right equipment, saddling and bridling, or leading and longeing. You’re not alone but you can feel that way when you try to find simple answers to everyday questions.

Certifications: I hold my Theory of Coaching Levels 1 (1985) & 2 (2001) from the National Coaching Certification Program and Western Rider 1 (2008) and 2 (2013) from Equine Canada under the mentorship of Pat Carter. I am also a Level 1 EXCA (Extreme Cowboy Association) judge.

Area of Expertise: A visit to Sweet Grass Farm isn't like a trip to Canada's Wonderland. It's a classroom, filled with interesting stuff, where you can have those discussions with your horse that you wished you'd had when you get in a bind out on the trail or in the show pen. Horses and people aren't 'desensitized' here, they're educated; both rider and horse need to learn how to think to stay safe in our crazy world. Some obstacles will test the horse; some will test the horseman, at different levels based on individual needs, from those working with young horses to those trying something new, horses in-hand, ground driving or under saddle, recreational riders, companions or competitors.
