Kathy Fowler, DVM

Hi! I’m Dr. Kathy Fowler. I earned my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Cornell University in 2003. From 2003 to 2016 I worked in general small animal practice at Winder Animal Hospital in Winder, GA. In 2016 I left that job to pursue further training in veterinary pain management. In 2017 I completed the Animal Chiropractic course offered by the Animal Chiropractic Education Source in Texas and earned my Certified Animal Chiropractor credential from the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association. In 2021 I became a Certfied Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner after finishing the training program offered by the University of Tennessee.

I opened Climbing Rose Veterinary Services in 2017 with the vision of improving pain management and well-being in dogs and cats of all ages in their own homes. I love my patients and clients, and have found this new version of veterinary practice deeply fulfilling.

I am a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Georgia Veterinary Medical Association, the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association, the American Association of Rehabilitation Veterinarians, the International Association of Veterinary Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy, the International Veterinary Academy of Pain Management, and the International Association for Animal Hospice and Palliative Care.

Once a week I pay a visit to the Toccoa Stephens County Humane Shelter and give rabies vaccines to the dogs and cats there. It is a small shelter with a dedicated staff who work hard to get homes for all of their adoptable animals. It’s about an hour north of Athens; if you’re looking for a new dog or cat, please give them a visit!

I have lived in Athens since 2003 with my husband, who is a professor at UGA, and my son, who is a student at Clarke Middle School. We have two dogs. In my free time I’m a student at AKF Athens Martial Arts. (Source)
