Kay Dahms, DVM

DR. KAY graduated magna cum laude from Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine and then traveled east for a Large Animal internship at NC State in 1986. She fell in love with piedmont North Carolina, chose to make northern Durham County home, and has been in private practice there for 30 years.

ALL EQUINE VETERINARY SERVICE is an ambulatory equine practice with the goal of providing personal, compassionate, individualized care over the lifespan of your horse. “Whatever your horse’s medical need, I am committed to the end. If I can’t meet it, together we will collaborate with local specialists to create an effective health team for your horse.”

Before heading to vet school, Kay was a three-day event rider, trainer, and certified instructor. During her time as a working student for an Olympic rider in PA, she developed a passion for lameness evaluation and what it takes to keep the competition horse sound. Her other professional interests are reproduction and neonatal care, geriatric medicine, emergency medicine and traumatic wound care.

Kay and her husband, Doug, have three sons and live on a small farm in Bahama where they raise Boer meat goats for junior livestock competitions. (Source)
