Profile
About Kevin Gilliam
Kevin began his career in the late 80’s working with various breeds and soon gravitated to the Tennessee Walking and Spotted Saddle Horse. His early focus was with the Performance division and in 1993 moved his attention to the Pleasure horse. During the early and mid 90’s he trained and rode several horses to championship wins. IN 1995, he, along with his partner, moved to Oxford, North Carolina and established Bayfield Farm, a boarding, training and breeding facility. He quickly grew a successful Riding Academy and by the early 2000’s, he and his students were enjoying much success in the show ring. One of his major triumphs was riding Avenger’s Wonder Girl, a Spotted Saddle Horse, to a World Grand Championship in the trail pleasure division and later repeating his success with Shake, Rattle and Roll to the same honor. Many of his students worked to top honors in the TWHBEA Versatility Program showing the broad range of talents exhibited by the TWH.
Although he continues to teach riding at all levels and train, he has become a very successful judge with WHOA and SSHBEA. He has judged the International Pleasure and Colt Grand championship Horse Show held annually in Murfreesboro, TN and Spotted Saddle Horse Celebration in Shelbyville, TN. He has judged many Walking and Open shows in Pennsylvania, Virginia, North Carolina and Canada. His reputation as a knowledgeable, fair and equitable judge continues to grow and his ability as a competent teacher is well known. (Source)
