Kimberly K. Abernathy-Young, DVM

Dr. Abernathy-Young, DVM graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia College of Veterinary Medicine in 2002. Then did an ambulatory internship with Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital from 2002-2003, under Dr. Scott Pierce. In 2003, she moved to western Kentucky and started an equine veterinary ambulatory practice by 2004. She graduated from The International Veterinary Acupuncture Society Program the same year and is also a graduate of the Options for Animals Veterinary Chiropractic Course. Dr. Abernathy-Young enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine and incorporating the latest developments in procedures and treatments through continuing education, while having a special expertise in reproduction. In 2012, Dr. Abernathy-Young collaborated with other veterinarians at Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital to publish a paper in JAVMA entitled “Survival Rates of Mares and Foals and Postoperative Complication and Fertility of Mare After Cesarean Section; 95 cases” (1986-2000). Dr. Abernathy-Young also presented a poster at the 2017 Society of Theriogenology entitled: “Collection of Stallion Using XL Latex Condom”. When Dr. Abernathy-Young is not working she enjoys boating on Kentucky Lake and trail riding on her Tennessee Walker, Murray. She is also a master gardener and enjoys tending to her gardens in the summer time. (Source)
