Dr. Maggie Loomer was born and raised in Richmond, Virginia. Her aunt introduced her to horses at a young age, and she soon found herself owning a horse and working at a large boarding facility. It quickly became clear that Maggie could not live without horses. She attended the University of Virginia for undergrad and then made the trek across the country to vet school at University of California, Davis. After vet school she joined an equine practice in Phoenix, AZ. During that time, she pursued her dreams of becoming certified in animal chiropractic through the International Veterinary Chiropractic Association. She continues to return to Options for Animals, School of Veterinary Chiropractic a few times a year to teach chiropractic techniques to other veterinarians and chiropractors. The desire to be closer to family brought her back to the East Coast, and she is very excited to be joining PenMar Equine! Her special interests include caring for geriatric patients, foals, ophthalmology, and chiropractic. She is excited to be learning equine acupuncture this winter and hopes to offer this service to clients in the spring of 2021. (Source)
