Mary Gatti

Mary Gatti started her career in the early 60’s as a top Saddle Seat Equitation Trainer. In 1970 she and her husband Chuck purchased 30+ acres in Azusa Canyon. Over the years what once was a small operation turned into one of the most successful Hunter/Jumper show barns on the West Coast. Mary has trained top medal final winners in both Saddle Seat Equitation and Hunt Seat Equitation. As a Hunter/Jumper trainer, her students have won numerous medal finals: PCHA Junior and Senior, LAHJA Junior , Senior and Horsemanship, AHSA Adult, SFHJA Junior and Senior, and OCHSA Junior and Senior. Mary has also had a long line of AHSA ( now USEF) Zone and National Hunter award winners: Landefelle Logic, Bremen, Celebration, Chocolate Kiss, Cousteau , Maurice , Sin City, Undeniable and Estrella. Over the years many of Marys’ students have gone on to operate successful businesses of their own. Mary is well known for her dedication to her horses’ well -being as well as her clients’ success. At the horse shows she is affectionately known as “Mother Mary” ( dubbed by George Morris) because of her nurturing ways toward her clients. Mary in 2008 recieved the USHJA Zone X Lifetime Achievement Award ,and in 2002 Mary, was named CPHA Horseperson of the Year, some very notable accomplishments. (Source)
