   Mayten Store once existed solely as a gas station/mini-mart on the quiet A-12 County road cutoff between I-5 to the west and Highway 97 to the east. Recently with new ownership, a hardware and livestock feed/supply store was added to the services available at this location. Initially, I was reluctant to do business there as I was sure the prices would be extremely high. I figured prices would be marked up due to the isolated/remote location of the store and due to the fact that although not advertised on the storefront, the feed store itself is apparently a part of the Ace Hardware store chain. However I was actually quite pleasantly surprised when I finally made a visit to the store, discovering that they not only had a very comprehensive and varied selection of items but their prices were more than competitive with other local hardware/feed stores in the area. In fact, their prices beat that of the next nearest Ace Hardware store which is located in Yreka, roughly a half hour drive to the west. I would absolutely recommend shopping here if you’re a contractor or handyman working in the area and in need of a replacement tool or materials/parts or if you’re a pet/livestock owner or rancher/farmer in need of grain/bedding or cat/dog food etc. I think you’ll find what you’re looking for at a fair price to boot.
