Meg Hammond, DVM

Dr. Meg Hammond is a 2010 graduate of the Virginia-Maryland School of Veterinary Medicine. She spent the following year as an intern veterinarian at Woodside and joined the clinic as an associate veterinarian in 2011. She has completed training in veterinary chiropractic medicine at Parker University in Dallas, TX and Acupuncture through the Chi Institute of Chinese Medicine in Florida. Her veterinary medicine interests include emergency care, ophthalmology, lameness, and chiropractic.

Dr. Hammond’s inspiration for a medical career stems from her family. Her father is a physician and her grandfather is a veterinarian who helped to found the Virginia/ Maryland School of Veterinary Medicine. Her love of horses started at a young age when she started riding and showing horses. She worked as a veterinary assistant in high school and through college, where she attended the University of Virginia. During vet school, she rode with equine practitioners on their calls, worked as a large animal technician in the school’s hospital and was an active member of the Student Chapter of Equine Practitioners.

Dr. Hammond grew up in Charlottesville, Virginia but she and her family have settled here in the Richmond area. She enjoys outdoor activities such as riding, hiking, skiing and trips to the beach. (Source)
