Melissa Hughes-Smith is a native of Scarborough, Maine, who began her riding career at small horse shows within Greater New England. She then graduated from William Woods University in 1995 with a degree in Equine Sciences and continued her equine education in the role of Assistant Trainer and Instructor at Biggins Stables and Delovely Farm. She came to EGF in 2009 well prepared to assume the leadership role. Over her career she coached US Saddleseat World Cup team in 2008 and the US Saddleseat Young Rider team in 2015. She has trained and instructed multiple World and National Champions in performance and equitation. (Source)
