After almost a decade working in healthcare as a critical care nurse, I decided that was not how I wanted to spend the rest of my days. I have always had a love of working with metal and horses and thought I should combine the two and make a living I really enjoy. And let’s be honest, who wouldn’t rather spend their time in a barn instead of a hospital?

In 2009, I began working as an apprentice with a local AFA-certified journeyman farrier who was willing to take me under his wing. With over 30 years of experience shoeing various breeds and disciplines and regularly working with racing standardbreds, jumpers, hunters, and pleasure horses in the Capital District of NY, he taught me the basics of trimming and shoeing and continues to be a mentor to me today. Since the beginning, I have understood the importance of education and regularly attend numerous clinics and conferences throughout the year to further my knowledge, including the Annual Cornell University Farriers Conference and the Annual Farriers Conference at the Equine Clinic at Oakencroft.

I started my own farrier business in 2013. I have achieved the AAPF Foundation Credential Certification and received my Certified Farrier designation from the AFA.

In addition to shoeing horses, I also own Equine Site Solutions and compete at USEF-rated and local hunter/jumper shows. My wife, Stacey, and I own Graphite Hill Farm, five of our own horses, and compete regularly throughout the year. (Source)
