Nicole Wessel, DVM

Nicky Wessel received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from Iowa State University in 2005. After graduation, Nicky completed two surgical and lameness internships. Purdue University offered great experience in general medicine and surgery, providing many diverse illnesses and situations for her to learn from. The second internship was a surgical rotation at a busy equine hospital in Wilamette, Oregon. This second opportunity for an internship provided Nicky with exactly what she was looking for to complete her already extensive education. Shortly after moving to Illinois, she found her passion and started Cutting Edge Equine.

Nicky has concentrated on equine sports medicine and has a natural gift for diagnosing and treating lameness issues. Her skills also give her the ability to treat neuromuscular and other musculoskeletal problems. She is also skilled in internal medicine and dentistry. She applies her knowledge and her people friendly manner to educate her clients providing the best possible experience for all owners and trainers.

Nicky and her husband Tyson live in Lakemoor with their son Kolton, two Great Danes, “Daisy” and “Lola” and her Quarter Horse, “Cyclone”. (Source)
