I grew up riding on a daily basis, competing in local hunter /jumper events and worked as a groom at a major show barn in Jacksonville, Florida to afford my riding habit! I attended Florida State University for my under graduate work and the University of Florida for Veterinary school. After graduating in 1986, I worked as an associate in a mixed animal practice in Macon, Georgia for 4 ½ years before moving “home”. Mandarin Equine Veterinary Service was founded in 1991. Although my primary interest out of school was in reproduction, I have concentrated my efforts and spend a majority of my time over the last 28 years on soundness evaluations, lameness diagnostics and therapeutic treatments. I serve as an adjunct professor for the University of Florida, teaching junior and senior veterinary student through a practice based equine clerkship. I am a member of the AVMA, AAEP and the FAEP. I am active on the Northeast Florida Equestrian Society serving as a board member for the Jacksonville Equestrian Center. To further expand my diagnostic and treatment skills I attended the Chi Institute for Acupuncture in 1999. I live on a small farm with my husband of 28 years, 3 horses, 4 dogs, several cats and our son when he is home from college. I feel honored to be a part of this profession and meet every day with enthusiasm! (Source)
