Rachelle L. LaPrade, DVM

Growing up in California, Dr. LaPrade competed on the Hunter/Jumper Circuit, starting in the pony divisions and culminating in the Junior Hunter and Medal divisions. She also advanced through the Pony Club ranks, ultimately achieving her ‘B’ rating within that organization.

Dr. LaPrade headed east for college, graduating from Yale University in 1993 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology. She followed that with a 1997 graduation with Phi Zeta honors from the University of California at Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. Upon graduation, she opened a mobile equine veterinary practice in the Oakland hills, serving the greater east bay, with an emphasis on performance and pleasure horses. She sold that highly successful practice in late 2004 upon moving to Des Moines.

As an accomplished equestrian, Dr. LaPrade carries her deep-seated understanding of the functionality and performance of horses to her veterinary practice.

Dr. LaPrade lives in the heart of Des Moines with her husband, four kids, three dogs, and three cats. In any spare time, she enjoys riding, running, tennis, reading, and gardening. (Source)
