Rebecca Skirmont, DVM

Dr. Rebecca Skirmont earned both her bachelors and doctoral degrees from Colorado State University. Originally from northern Illinois, she moved to Fort Collins, CO in 2009 to pursue her undergraduate studies in animal science and shortly after began working as an equine veterinary technician at Colorado State University’s Veterinary Teaching Hospital. There she committed to developing her skills in all aspects of equine care, but most specifically in emergency medicine and critical care. This continued to be her primary focus throughout veterinary school, in addition to her officer roles with the student chapter of AAEP. In 2018, Dr. Skirmont graduated from Colorado State University’s Veterinary Medicine program and eagerly began practicing at Mid-Atlantic with an emphasis in sports medicine, diagnostic imaging and emergency medicine/critical care. When she’s not in the hospital, Rebecca enjoys spending time with her family, including her husband, Ryan, and her two amazing Australian Shepherds. Her passion for horses extends beyond medicine, and she hopes to soon return to playing polo, a sport which she has loved and shared over the years with her husband. (source)
