I grew up in the Reno-Sparks area and some of my earliest memories are of being on, and falling off horseback. I was raised by an exceptional horseman, my mother Sharon, who was a state champion barrel racer, and breeder of racing and performance quarter horses.
After graduating with my BS degree in Animal Science from the University of Nevada, Reno, I headed off to The Ohio State University, where I graduated in 1988 with my degree in Veterinary Medicine and was honored to receive the award for Excellence in Equine Medicine and Surgery from the faculty and staff of the large animal hospital. That same year I moved home to Reno and established Equine Veterinary Care of Nevada.
In 1992, I began developing and modifying dental instruments and techniques that enable dental care to be delivered more effectively, efficiently and comfortably for the horse and doctor alike. In 1994, I formed Equi-Dent Technologies, a company dedicated to providing veterinarians with instrumentation and education to encourage the practice of “Complete, Conservative, and Proper” preventative and corrective dental care (read more).
I left general equine practice in 2000 to focus on dentistry and reproductive care, and have maintained a limited veterinary practice to this date.
I’ve been fortunate to have been educated by a group of exceptional instructors and mentors, and have cherished the opportunity to share that knowledge with colleagues and veterinary students at veterinary conferences and colleges nationwide.
My focus continues to be: providing high quality dental care to my patients, sharing the knowledge I’ve acquired in my 27 years as a vet, and enjoying the relationships I’ve developed with my clients, patients and colleagues. (Source)
