Shane David Smith, DVM

Dr Shane Smith grew up locally on his family’s cattle ranch in Jordan Valley. He began competing in rodeo from a very early age, and his love of the sport took him all the way through college where he competed for the University of Idaho. He received his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Washigton State University in 2013. He joined Idaho Equine Hospital in 2014 as an associate veterinarian, but he had become a member of our team and our family long before that. While in veterinary school he spent 3 summers working as a technician at IEH, and his first year after veterinary school graduation he spent with us as an intern. It was evident from early on how well he fit with the practice.His down-to-earth personality, his compassion, his love of veterinary medicine and his drive to provide exemplary care for his patients made him a natural fit with the hospital. His professional interests include medicine, dentistry and reproduction. Outside of work he enjoys team roping, hunting, camping, being outdoors, and spending time with his wife Katrina, who is also a veterinarian. Dr. Smith is also a partner at Idaho Equine Hospital.
