Local Florida native, Dr. Sidney Chanutin always aspired to become a veterinarian. She decided to dedicate her life to horses and has been immersed in the equine industry since before owning her first horse at age eight.
Dr. Chanutin completed her undergraduate studies in Biology at Florida Atlantic University, graduating with Summa Cum Laude honors. During and after college, Dr. Chanutin worked as a veterinary technician for a south Florida based equine practice where she assisted with patient treatments, administrative tasks, and USEF drug testing during the Winter Equestrian Festival show season. She pursued her dream of becoming a veterinarian by obtaining her doctorate at the University of Florida where she took part in the Florida Veterinary Scholars Program. Dr. Chanutin contributed to veterinary research projects by performing biomechanical testing, assisting in surgical prosthetic ligament placements, preparing cadaver limbs, and obtaining radiographs. During her studies, Dr. Chanutin contributed to the publications “Biomechanical Comparison of Four Isometric Prosthetic Ligament Repair Techniques for Tarsal Medial Collateral Ligament Injury” by Dr. Matthew Johnson, and “The Use of Venography with Inclusion of the 60* Dorsoproximal-Palmarodistal Oblique Radiographic Projection to Evaluate Perfusion in Non-laminitic Equine Digit Pathology” with Dr. Kimberly Meadows and Dr. Alison Morton.
