Dr. Sundholm’s interest in veterinary medicine developed as he was growing up in Iowa. An avid horse lover since childhood, Dr. Sundholm trained his own horses and was accomplished in barrel racing and pole bending. After graduating from the Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1978, Dr. Sundholm practiced equine and small animal medicine in his hometown for five years. Since 1983, he has been an equine exclusive practitioner in the Oregon City area. A past president of the Northwest Equine Practitioners Association (NEPA), Dr. Sundholm maintains memberships in several professional associations including AAEP, AVMA, OVMA, NEPA, and the International Association of Equine Dentistry (IAED). Dr. Sundholm has taken many extra courses in equine dentistry to supplement his education and enjoys helping horses with their dental equilibration needs. He passed all levels of certification in the IAED and served as an examiner for this organization, administering dental certification testing for other practitioners across the country. Dr. Sundholm is excited about all aspects of equine veterinary medicine, especially surgery, reproduction, lameness and dentistry. Instrumental in the design and building of the new clinic, Dr. Sundholm welcomes the opportunities for enhanced client services. In his spare time, Dr. Sundholm enjoys bird hunting with his dogs, ballroom dancing, a variety of outdoor recreational activities, and power tools. (Source)
