A native of Washington State, Dr. Latimer graduated from Washington State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 1988. After 2 years working in general practice, Dr. Latimer co-founded Northwest Equine Veterinary Associates, initiating his career as an equine exclusive practitioner in 1990. The wide variety of cases from lameness, lacerations, colics, dystocias, dentistry, sick foals to the most unusual and complex cases provided him with an incredibly broad medicine and surgery experience. As a member of the 1995 Atlanta Cup and 1996 Olympic Games veterinary crew, Dr. Latimer has progressively developed an exclusive interest and dedication to athletic injury and recovery and routinely works and consults with the most renowned lameness experts in the country. Dr. Latimer attends multiple advanced lameness and sports medicine meetings every year, including several International Society of Equine Locomotion Pathology (I.S.E.L.P.) conferences. Through all these conferences and training, individual study, and nearly 30 years of practical experience, Dr. Latimer is widely recognized for lameness evaluations, pre-purchase exams, tendon ultrasonography, and radiographic evaluation. Today he routinely consults on or performs pre-purchase exams on high-level performance horses both here and abroad. (Source)
