Dr. Zoë Ross (formerly Clark) grew up west of Bentley, Alberta on the family sheep and horse farm with her younger sister Janna. From a very young age, she was sure she wanted to become a veterinarian, specializing in large animals.
She graduated from Bentley high school in 1993 and commenced her pre-veterinarian education at Augustana in Camrose the following year. She continued at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, graduating with a degree in agriculture. Zoe worked at the university of Alberta dairy unit for 2 years as a research coordinator before heading the western college of veterinary medicine in Saskatoon. She graduated from vet school in 2003. Zoë received the Large Animal Student Surgery Award, the Wyeth General Proficiency Award and the Janssen Animal Health Award.
After graduation she became an associate veterinarian at the Dawson Creek veterinary clinic. Zoë married Dr. Mike Ross after graduation and the following year, they purchased the clinic. She and Mike have expanded and developed both the large and small animal practices in Dawson Creek. As a veterinarian Zoë has a special interest and has taken courses in orthopedic surgery and really enjoys surgery, particularly orthopedics. She also spends time mentoring other veterinarians in the practice and focusing on client education.
Zoë enjoys spending time with her two sons Declan and Dain and taking them to all their extracurricular activities. She also enjoys hiking, running and riding her horses. She grew up Three Day Eventing but after coming to the Peace, she learned to team rope and, when time permits, she enjoys competing in local jackpots. Mike and Zoë have a small farm outside of Dawson Creek where they have many different animals. (Source)
