Regenerative medicine for the treatment of Teno-desmic injuries of the equine. A series of 150 horses treated with platelet-derived growth factors. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the safety and the clinical outcome of platelet-rich plasma for the treatment of teno-desmic injures in competition horses. Methods: From January 2009 to December 2011, 150 sport horses suffering from teno-desmic injuries were treated with no-gelled platelet-concentrate. Results: No horse showed any major adverse reaction as a result of the procedure. Full healing was obtained for 81% of the horses. Twelve percent had clinical improvement and only 7% a failure. Ultrastructural changes in regressing equine sarcoid tumours–mysterious role of mitochondria. Mitochondrial changes of healing sarcoids were followed in 17 affected horses. Biopsies of this fibroblastic skin tumour were collected both before and during the treatment and tumour regression. The therapy consisted of the partial excision of tumours, repeated immunizations with autogenous polymerized tumour particles and supportive dietary treatment with stannic chloride and folic acid. Macroscopical and histopathological changes in regressing primary and recurrent equine sarcoids during active specific bio-immunotherapy. Healing sarcoids were followed in 18 horses which had taken part in previous clinical studies on a total of 29 horses suffering from either primary or recurrent sarcoids, treated with bio-immunotherapy. In the present study, attention was paid to changes observed in these fibroblastic skin tumours during their regression. The tumours were surgically debulked leaving the base in the skin. The present status of BCG treatment in the veterinary practice. Horses with sarcoids, cows with ocular squamous cell carcinoma and dogs with mammary tumors were treated with intralesional injection of Bacillus Calmette Guérin. This treatment appeared to be effective in most cases of equine sarcoids, in 50 - 60% of the cows with ocular squamous cell carcinoma and was not effective in dogs with mammary tumors.
