[2 cases of colonic pbstipation in ponies, probably as a sequela of a treatment with Taktic].
Abstract: Within a one-year period two ponies were operated on because of colon impaction. The two ponies had each been treated with Amitraz (Taktik) quite recently. In view of findings reported in the literature, the colon impaction in these two ponies was very likely to have been due to treatment with Taktik.

This research chronicles two ponies’ experiences of colonic impaction following treatment with a medical drug called Amitraz, commercially known as Taktic, indicating a probable correlation between the medication used and the complications encountered.
Introduction to the Study
- This study analyzes two cases of colonic impaction in ponies over a one-year period.
- Both ponies had received a treatment with a medicine called Amitraz (commercially named Taktic) prior to the development of the condition.
Potential Implication of Taktic
- Given the temporal connection between the application of the drug and the development of the impaction, the study suggests a probable link.
- The argument for the correlation is bolstered by supporting evidence published in previous scientific literature, which appears to indicate a similar pattern of outcomes post-treatment.
Objective of the Study
- The primary aim of the research is to establish potential consequences of using the drug Amitraz on animals, specifically ponies.
- The study aims to identify possible medication-induced conditions, thus aiding more prudent selection of drugs in future veterinary care.
Impact of the Study
- Demonstrating possible negative sequela of Taktic treatment, this case study may influence future veterinary therapy decisions.
- The research could potentially dissuade the use of Amitraz in ponies or suggest the need for careful surveillance for signs of colonic impaction following its use.
