[Gene pool differentiation between Altaic and trotting horse breeds inferred from ISSR-PCR marker data].

Abstract: Using ISSR-PCR marker data, comparative analysis of the gene pools of Altaic and trotting horse breeds was carried out. Horse groups of different origin demonstrated differences in amplification spectra of DNA fragments flanked by inverted repeats of four microsatellites. Combinations of certain DNA fragments present in these profiles reproducibly distinguished genomes of the Altaic breed from the trotting breeds. Genetic differentiation between some trotting breeds, based on Nei genetic distance values, was found to be comparable to that between the groups of horses of Altaic breed from two different farms.

Summary

This research summary has been generated with artificial intelligence and may contain errors and omissions. Refer to the original study to confirm details provided. Submit correction.

The research study analyzes the genetic differences between the Altaic and trotting breeds of horses, using ISSR-PCR marker data. This comparison of gene pools shows substantial genetic variation between these horse breeds.

Understanding the Objective

The study aims to enlighten the readers about the genetic differences between two types of horse breeds by utilizing ISSR-PCR marker data. This genetic marker is useful in demonstrating the DNA variations that help in differentiating between the two horse breeds.

Process of Genetic Comparison

  • The research demonstrates how horse groups of different origins show differences in the amplification spectra of DNA fragments. These fragments are flanked by inverted repeats of four microsatellites, which are specific DNA sequences repeated in the genome.
  • The combination of certain DNA fragments, presented in the genetic profiles, reproducibly distinguished the genomes of the Altaic breed from the trotting breeds. This denotes a clear and reliable differentiation between the two horse breeds at the genetic level.

Findings of the Study

  • The research establishes genetic differentiation between certain trotting breeds based on Nei genetic distance values. These values are essentially measures of genetic divergence, calculated by comparing the genetic diversity within and between populations.
  • The degree of genetic differentiation amongst some trotting breeds was found to be comparable to that between groups of horses of Altaic breed from two different farms. This highlights a significant level of genetic diversity within and among these horse breeds which might be attributed to their geographic isolation, breeding practices among other factors.

Importance and Impact of the Research

This research holds importance in the domain of animal genetics as it provides a clear picture of the level of genetic divergence between the two horse breeds. This can aid in better understanding of the evolutionary relationships, breeding patterns among these species, and how environmental factors shape genetic diversity. Furthermore, such information might be useful in the conservation of these breeds and to maintain their genetic diversity which is crucial for long-term survival.
