Novel Technique for Transducer Handling in Sterile Ultrasound Guided Procedures.
Abstract: The objective of this paper is to describe a novel technique for handling an ultrasound transducer while performing sterile ultrasound guided procedures. This novel technique involves placement of the transducer inside the sterile glove on the hand of the operator. This technique allows the operator access to use of both hands without having to pass the transducer to an assistant.

This research article presents an innovative approach to handling an ultrasound transducer during sterile ultrasound-guided procedures, which involves placing the transducer inside a sterile glove on the operator’s hand. This method improves procedural efficiency by enabling the operator to use both hands without needing to pass the transducer to an assistant.
Introduction and Objective
- The primary goal of this study was development and description of a new, more efficient method for dealing with an ultrasound transducer during sterile ultrasound-guided procedures.
- Instead of the traditional method, which often involves passing the device to an assistant, this novel technique involves the operator placing the transducer into a sterile glove worn on their own hand.
Methodology
- The technique involves careful placement of the ultrasound transducer within the confines of a sterile glove worn by the health professional performing the procedure.
- Because the transducer is secured within the glove, the operator is able to use both hands freely during the procedure, even with the transducer in hand.
Results and Discussion
- With this novel technique, the need to pass the transducer to an assistant is significantly reduced or eliminated entirely. This nurtures a more efficient procedural environment and potentially reduces the risk of breaking sterile protocol.
- The potential for increased procedural efficiency was a vital aspect of this study. The idea is to provide the operator with a setup that is both functional and streamlines the procedure without compromising sterility.
Conclusion
- This research effectively offers a novel methodology for transducer handling during sterile ultrasound-guided procedures, which potentially improves procedural efficiency and maintenance of sterility.
- Simplicity, functionality, and the potential for benefiting sterile ultrasound-guided procedures on a broader scale is the driving force behind the development and sharing of this innovative technique.
