Steam Rolled Barley

Barley is a cereal grain used in equine feeds for its energy-rich starch content and moderate protein levels. It is denser than oats and typically processed to enhance digestibility in horses.

Steam-rolled barley is made by steaming whole barley kernels to soften them, then flattening them through rollers. This partial heat treatment improves starch availability without full gelatinization. It is more digestible than raw or dry-rolled barley and is used to increase caloric intake. Like other high-starch grains, it should be introduced gradually and managed carefully in horses prone to metabolic disorders.

The following equine feeds, supplements and products contain Steam Rolled Barley as an ingredient.
