Manganese oxide is an inorganic compound used in animal feed as a source of manganese, an essential trace mineral. It is a stable and commonly used form of manganese, though it has lower bioavailability compared to organic sources like manganese proteinate.
In equine nutrition, manganese is crucial for bone development, joint health, and enzyme function related to metabolism and antioxidant activity. It plays a key role in cartilage formation and energy production. While manganese deficiency is rare in horses, adequate levels must be maintained in the diet to support overall musculoskeletal health.
