Codonopsis pilosula root, commonly known as dangshen or “poor man’s ginseng,” is a herb used in traditional Chinese medicine. It contains bioactive compounds including polysaccharides, saponins, and phenolic acids, and is traditionally valued for adaptogenic and tonic properties.
