Colloidal Silver

Colloidal silver is a suspension of very small silver particles or silver-containing compounds dispersed in liquid. Silver has antimicrobial properties and has historically been used in topical products and medical materials, but colloidal silver is not an essential nutrient and does not have an established nutritional requirement in horses.

Colloidal silver is sometimes marketed in animal products for antimicrobial or immune-support purposes; however, evidence supporting routine oral use in horses is limited. Repeated or excessive exposure can lead to silver accumulation in tissues and may interfere with normal biological processes. It should not be considered a substitute for veterinary diagnosis, antimicrobial treatment, or appropriate hygiene and wound care.
