Corn Silk

Corn silk is the collection of long, thread-like stigmas and styles that extend from the ear of corn (Zea mays). After harvest, the silk can be dried and used as a botanical ingredient. It contains flavonoids, phenolic compounds, potassium, and other naturally occurring plant constituents.

In equine herbal formulas, corn silk is most commonly included in products intended to support normal urinary tract function and fluid balance. These uses are based largely on traditional herbal practice rather than controlled equine research. Corn silk contributes only small amounts of conventional nutrients at typical supplemental inclusion rates and is generally used for its phytochemical profile rather than as a primary feed ingredient.

The following equine feeds, supplements and products contain Corn Silk as an ingredient.
