Omphalia lapidescens (Lei Wan)

Omphalia lapidescens, commonly known in traditional Chinese medicine as Lei Wan, is a medicinal fungus that forms hard, stone-like sclerotia. The dried sclerotium has historically been used in herbal preparations, particularly in formulas associated with intestinal parasite control.

In equine products, Omphalia lapidescens would be considered a specialty fungal ingredient rather than a source of essential nutrients. Modern equine research on its efficacy, active constituents, and safe inclusion levels is sparse. Because traditional anthelmintic use does not establish reliable parasite control in horses, it should not replace fecal egg count testing, veterinarian-guided deworming programs, or approved anthelmintic medications when treatment is indicated.

The following equine feeds, supplements and products contain Omphalia lapidescens (Lei Wan) as an ingredient.
