Oriental Arborvitae Oil

Oriental Arborvitae Oil is an essential oil extracted from the leaves or seeds of Platycladus orientalis (also known as Chinese arborvitae or Thuja orientalis), a coniferous tree native to East Asia. The oil contains bioactive compounds such as thujone, pinene, and cedrol, which contribute to its aromatic and medicinal properties.

In herbal medicine, the oil has been used for its antimicrobial, astringent, and insecticidal effects. However, due to the presence of thujone—a neurotoxic compound in high doses—its use in animal feed, including equine formulations, is highly restricted and potentially unsafe.

The following equine feeds, supplements and products contain Oriental Arborvitae Oil as an ingredient.
