Purification and identification of horse serum IgA.
Cardiopathological observations on histopathogenesis of wandering pacemaker in horses. Histopathololgical observations were performed on the heart and cardiac nervous system of 5 horses affected with wandering pacemaker. The histopathological lesions common to all the animals were as follows: (1) Focal fibrosis in the atrial myocardium just beneath the subendocardium and/or in the endo- and subendocardium, and existence of atrial Purkinje-like fibers within the fibrotic lesions, (2) Microvascular altetation, characterized by edematous-loosening and/or fibrous swelling of the walls of the small and minute arteries, in both the atria, (3) Edema in the intracadiac nerves of both th...
Antigenic relationship between the Tokyo and the Miami strains of equine influenza subtype 2 virus. The first outbreak of equine influenza (EI) infection in Japan was recognized during the period December 1971 to January 1972 [1, 6]. No evidence of the disease had been found before then [2,6]. The etiological agent of this epizootic was identified by hemagglutination-inhibition (HI) and neutralization tests with chicken or ferret antiserum as the subtype 2 of EI virus (6, 7). However, the isolate, A/equine/Tokyo/71 (Tokyo) strain, was not completely identical to the prototypic A/equine/Miami /63 (Miami) strain of the subtype 2, since antibody responses of convalescent horses were 2 to 16 tim...
Detection of antibody against adenovirus in horses imported into Japan. This research study focuses on detecting the presence of antibodies against adenovirus in horses imported into Japan and it demonstrates that the majority of horses imported into Japan have displayed […]
