Stimulation of LH, FSH, and luteal blood flow by GnRH during the luteal phase in mares.
Theriogenology    October 19, 2015   Volume 85, Issue 4 740-746 doi: 10.1016/j.theriogenology.2015.10.019
Castro T, Oliveira FA, Siddiqui MA, Baldrighi JM, Wolf CA, Ginther OJ.A study was performed on the effect of a single dose per mare of 0 (n = 9), 100 (n = 8), or 300 (n = 9) of GnRH on Day 10 (Day 0 = ovulation) on concentrations of LH, FSH, and progesterone (P4) and blood flow to the CL ovary. Hormone concentration and blood flow measurements were performed at hours 0 (hour of treatment), 0.25, 0.5, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6. Blood flow was assessed by spectral Doppler ultrasonography for resistance to blood flow in an ovarian artery before entry into the CL ovary. The percentage of the CL with color Doppler signals of blood flow was estimated from videotapes of real-t...
Expression of angiogenic factors and luteinizing hormone receptors in the corpus luteum of mares induced to ovulate with deslorelin acetate.
Theriogenology    September 18, 2015   Volume 85, Issue 3 461-465 doi: 10.1016/j.theriogenology.2015.09.025
Maia VN, Batista AM, Cunha Neto S, Silva DM, Adrião M, Wischral A.The effects of deslorelin acetate use in inducing ovulation need to be clarified to improve the results of equine embryo transfer. The mRNA abundance for angiogenic factors and LH receptor (LHR) in corpus luteum (CL) was studied in mares with natural (control group [CG]) and induced ovulation with deslorelin acetate (treatment group [TG]; follicles: ≥ 35 mm). Transrectal ultrasonography was used to verify the ovulation day, and on Days 4, 8, and 12 after ovulation (Day 0), CL samples were obtained through ultrasound-guided biopsy. The messenger RNA expression of vascular endothelial growth f...
Transrectal ultrasonographic characterization of the accessory sex glands, pelvic urethra, and ureters in normal geldings.
Theriogenology    September 11, 2015   Volume 85, Issue 2 186-192 doi: 10.1016/j.theriogenology.2015.09.008
Schnobrich MR, Turner RO, Belcher CN, Slack J.Transrectal ultrasound of the internal urogenital tract may be used to aid in the diagnosis of reproductive tract and urinary tract pathology in both stallions and geldings. Abnormalities of the accessory sex glands of geldings are uncommon, although prostatic masses have recently been described in adult geldings presenting with dysuria, stranguria, and/or hematuria. The purpose of this study was to describe the normal ultrasonographic features and sizes of the accessory sex glands, caudal ureters, and pelvic urethra in clinically normal geldings. Eleven healthy geldings with no history of uro...
Characteristics of frozen epididymal spermatozoa from stallions that died 12 to 36 hours after colic surgery.
Theriogenology    September 11, 2015   Volume 85, Issue 2 345-350 doi: 10.1016/j.theriogenology.2015.09.006
Gloria A, Carluccio A, Petrizzi L, Noto F, Contri A.Equine spermatozoa from the cauda epididymis were previously collected and frozen, and the fertility was assessed. Most studies were performed on healthy stallions that had undergone routine castration or on the epididymis collected at the abattoir, but there are no studies on the quality of epididymal semen in subjects which have died from colic or which underwent intensive care. The present study was designed to verify whether a severe illness could affect epididymal semen quality and freezability in the stallion. Therefore, epididymal semen characteristics during the freezing process in sta...
Characterization of alkaline phosphatase activity in seminal plasma and in fresh and frozen-thawed stallion spermatozoa.
Theriogenology    September 11, 2015   Volume 85, Issue 2 288-295.e2 doi: 10.1016/j.theriogenology.2015.09.007
Bucci D, Giaretta E, Spinaci M, Rizzato G, Isani G, Mislei B, Mari G, Tamanini C, Galeati G.Alkaline phosphatase (AP) has been studied in several situations to elucidate its role in reproductive biology of the male from different mammalian species; at present, its role in horse sperm physiology is not clear. The aim of the present work was to measure AP activity in seminal plasma and sperm extracts from freshly ejaculated as well as in frozen-thawed stallion spermatozoa and to verify whether relationship exists between AP activity and sperm quality parameters. Our data on 40 freshly ejaculated samples from 10 different stallions demonstrate that the main source of AP activity is semi...
Total plasma magnesium in healthy and critically ill foals.
Theriogenology    September 10, 2015   Volume 85, Issue 2 180-185 doi: 10.1016/j.theriogenology.2015.09.011
Mariella J, Isani G, Andreani G, Freccero F, Carpenè E, Castagnetti C.Abnormalities in total Mg (tMg) concentration in plasma and/or serum are common in critically ill humans, and the association with increased mortality has been documented in several clinical studies in adults and newborns with hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy. Abnormalities in tMg were studied in hospitalized dogs, cats, and adult horses. Newborn foals were scarcely studied with regard to Mg concentration. The aims of the present study were: (1) to compare two analytical methods for the determination of tMg in plasma: the automated colorimetric method and the atomic absorption spectrometry; (2)...
The relationship between sperm quality in cool-shipped semen and embryo recovery rate in horses.
Theriogenology    August 28, 2015   Volume 84, Issue 9 1587-1593.e4 doi: 10.1016/j.theriogenology.2015.08.008
Love CC, Noble JK, Standridge SA, Bearden CT, Blanchard TL, Varner DD, Cavinder CA.The relationship between the quality of cool-shipped stallion semen and fertility has not been adequately described. This study evaluated sperm quality of cool-shipped semen from 459 ejaculates (N = 130 stallions) that were used for insemination of 196 embryo donor mares (n = 496 estrous cycles). Embryo recovery rate (ERR; %) increased, as all sperm measures (e.g., motility, viability, DNA quality, morphology, concentration, and total number) increased. Threshold values are reported for each sperm quality measure (e.g., total sperm motility ≥ 65%) that separate two ERR groups (e.g., av...
Equine alpha-fetoprotein levels in Lipizzaner mares with normal pregnancies and with pregnancy loss.
Theriogenology    August 20, 2015   Volume 84, Issue 9 1581-1586 doi: 10.1016/j.theriogenology.2015.08.006
Vincze B, Gáspárdy A, Kulcsár M, Baska F, Bálint Á, Hegedűs GT, Szenci O.Alpha-fetoprotein has proved to be a good indicator of fetal well-being in human medicine for decades. Although this molecule is present in most of the mammalian species including horses, reference values in healthy and high-risk pregnant mares have not yet been published. The aim of the present study was to determine whether equine alpha-fetoprotein (eqAFP) is a good indicator of complicated pregnancies in Lipizzaner mares. A total of 111 serum samples from 30 mares have been analyzed for eqAFP levels throughout gestation (Days 60-325). After the pregnancy was confirmed, 23 mares had normal p...
Effect of seminal plasma vesicular structures in canine frozen-thawed semen.
Theriogenology    August 1, 2015   Volume 84, Issue 9 1490-1498 doi: 10.1016/j.theriogenology.2015.07.033
Goericke-Pesch S, Hauck S, Failing K, Wehrend A.Membrane vesicles (MVs) in the ejaculate have been identified in various species and are considered to affect membrane fluidity due to their characteristic molecular composition. Addition of MV to human frozen semen has been shown to improve post-thaw motility. Similarly, a beneficial effect has been suggested for frozen equine semen. As post-thaw canine semen quality varies widely between dogs, the aim of our study was to test for the effect of addition of canine MV on post-thaw semen quality in dogs. Semen samples from 10 male dogs were purified from MV and prepared for freezing. In experime...
Risk factors associated with uterine fluid after breeding caused by Streptococcus zooepidemicus.
Theriogenology    July 11, 2015   Volume 84, Issue 8 1283-1290 doi: 10.1016/j.theriogenology.2015.07.007
Christoffersen M, Söderlind M, Rí»ºlk SR, Pedersen HG, Allen J, Krekeler N.Infectious endometritis is a major cause of infertility in the mare and inflicts major losses on the equine breeding industry. The ability of the mare to eliminate uterine infections has been studied intensively for decades; however, despite identification of several factors contributing to the multifactorial pathogenesis and improved treatment, infectious endometritis remains a significant problem in a subpopulation of broodmares. Streptococcus equi subsp. zooepidemicus (S. zooepidemicus) is one of the most commonly isolated pathogens from the uterus of mares, suffering from infectious endom...
Sex ratio of equine offspring is affected by the ages of the mare and stallion.
Theriogenology    July 9, 2015   Volume 84, Issue 7 1238-1245 doi: 10.1016/j.theriogenology.2015.07.001
Santos MM, Maia LL, Nobre DM, Oliveira Neto JF, Garcia TR, Lage MC, de Melo MI, Viana WS, Palhares MS, da Silva Filho JM, Santos RL, Valle GR.The aim of this study was to determine the influence of parental age on the sex ratio of offspring in horses. Two trials were performed. In the first trial, the data from a randomly obtained population with a 1:1 sex ratio of 59,950 Mangalarga Marchador horses born in Brazil from 1990 to 2011 were analyzed. The sex ratios of the offspring were compared among groups according to the mare and the stallion ages (from 3 to 25 years). In the first step of the analysis, the mares and stallions were grouped according to age in 5-year intervals. In the second step, the groups were based on the parenta...
Effect of age and endometrial degenerative changes on uterine blood flow during early gestation in mares.
Theriogenology    June 29, 2015   Volume 84, Issue 7 1123-1130 doi: 10.1016/j.theriogenology.2015.06.013
Ferreira JC, Canesin HS, Ignácio FS, Rocha NS, Pinto CR, Meira C.The present experiment was divided into three studies to investigate the effect of age and endometrial degeneration on uterine blood flow of mares. In study 1, the influence of semen infusion and conception was evaluated using noninseminated (non-AI), inseminated nonpregnant (AI-NP), and inseminated pregnant (AI-P) mares (n = 7 mares/group). In study 2, the effect of age was investigated using young (≤6 years), adult (from 8 to 12 years), and old (≥15 years) pregnant mares (n = 7 mares/group). In study 3, uterine blood flow was also characterized in pregnant mares (n = 7 mares/group) with ...
Teaching of diagnostic skills in equine gynecology: simulator-based training versus schooling on live horses.
Theriogenology    June 20, 2015   Volume 84, Issue 7 1088-1095 doi: 10.1016/j.theriogenology.2015.06.007
Nagel C, Ille N, Aurich J, Aurich C.Transrectal palpation and ultrasonography of the genital tract in mares are first-day skills for equine veterinarians. In this study, the learning outcome in equine gynecology after four times training on horses (group H4, n = 8), training on horses once (group H1, n = 9), and four times simulator-based training (group Sim, n = 8) was assessed in third-year veterinary students with two tests in live mares 14 days apart. The students of group H4 always scored better for transrectal palpation than students of group Sim and H1 (P < 0.05). Overall, the students reached better results for palpat...
eCG concentrations, luteal structures, return to cyclicity, and postabortion fertility in embryo transfer recipient mares.
Theriogenology    June 12, 2015   Volume 84, Issue 6 1003-1013 doi: 10.1016/j.theriogenology.2015.05.038
Cuervo-Arango J, Aguilar JJ, Vettorazzi ML, Martínez-Boví R.The present study characterizes the relationship between the levels of eCG, ovarian morphology, resumption of cyclicity, and fertility in postaborted embryo transfer recipient mares. A total of 32 pregnant recipient mares carrying a male fetus were aborted at approximately 65 days of gestation by single transcervical administration of cloprostenol. In addition, 25 gestation age-matched mares were used as nonaborted controls. The concentration of progesterone, but not of eCG, differed significantly between controls and aborted mares 48 hours after abortion. Of treated mares, 84.4% (27 of 32) ex...
Sperm DNA quality evaluated by comet assay and sperm chromatin structure assay in stallions after unilateral orchiectomy.
Theriogenology    June 2, 2015   Volume 84, Issue 5 833-837 doi: 10.1016/j.theriogenology.2015.05.024
Unilateral orchiectomy (UO) may interfere with thermoregulation of the remaining testis caused by inflammation surrounding the incision site, thus altering normal spermatogenesis and consequently sperm quality. Two measures of sperm DNA quality (neutral comet assay and the sperm chromatin structure assay [SCSA]) were compared before UO (0 days) and at 14, 30, and 60 days after UO to determine whether sperm DNA changed after a mild testis stress (i.e., UO). The percent DNA in the comet tail was higher at 14 and 60 days compared to 0 days (P < 0.05) after UO. All other comet tail measures (i....
Testicular perfusion after standing laparoscopic peritoneal flap hernioplasty in stallions.
Theriogenology    May 22, 2015   Volume 84, Issue 5 797-804 doi: 10.1016/j.theriogenology.2015.05.014
Gracia-Calvo LA, Duque J, Balao da Silva C, Ezquerra J, Ortega-Ferrusola C.Acquired inguinal herniation is a very common condition in stallions, usually leading to unilateral or bilateral castration to prevent future recurrence. Recently, several surgical techniques such as the standing laparoscopic peritoneal flap hernioplasty (SLPFH) have been developed to avoid herniation recurrence and also preserve the breeding activity of high economic value stallions. However, studies on SLPFH lack more comprehensive and systematic data about reproductive-related adverse effects and outcomes. The aim of this study was to evaluate whether SLPFH of the internal inguinal rings pr...
Improvement of development of equine preantral follicles after 6 days of in vitro culture with ascorbic acid supplementation.
Theriogenology    May 19, 2015   Volume 84, Issue 5 750-755 doi: 10.1016/j.theriogenology.2015.05.006
Gomes RG, Lisboa LA, Silva CB, Max MC, Marino PC, Oliveira RL, González SM, Barreiros TR, Marinho LS, Seneda MM.The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of different concentrations of ascorbic acid (25, 50, and 100 μg/mL) in supplemented minimum essential medium (MEM+) on the development of equine preantral follicles that were cultured in vitro for 2 or 6 days. The contralateral ovaries (n = 5) from five mares in seasonal anestrus were collected from a local abattoir. Nine ovarian tissue fragments of approximately 5 × 5 × 1 mm were obtained from each animal. One fragment was immediately fixed and subjected to histologic analysis (control group; Day 0), and the other eight were placed in PBS ...
Characterization of the equine blood-testis barrier during tubular development in normal and cryptorchid stallions.
Theriogenology    May 15, 2015   Volume 84, Issue 5 763-772 doi: 10.1016/j.theriogenology.2015.05.009
Rode K, Sieme H, Richterich P, Brehm R.The formation of the blood-testis barrier (BTB) is defined as occurring with the first appearance of spermatocytes at around puberty and is vital for normal spermatogenesis. This barrier between two adjacent Sertoli cells (SCs) consists of a cell junctional protein complex, which includes tight junctions (TJs), adherens junctions, and gap junctions. In many mammalian species, BTB composition has already been investigated, whereas little is known about the equine BTB. In the present study, immunohistochemistry and qualitative Western Blot analysis were used to assess the expression and distribu...
Effects of ground semen collection on weight bearing on hindquarters, libido, and semen parameters in stallions.
Theriogenology    May 8, 2015   Volume 84, Issue 5 687-92.e1 doi: 10.1016/j.theriogenology.2015.04.029
Burger D, Meroni G, Thomas S, Sieme H.Collection of semen on the ground from the standing stallion represents an alternative method to dummy mount semen collection and is of increasing popularity for sport stallions, males suffering from health problems, or in studs without a dummy or suitable mare at disposal. Our aim was to collect and compare spermatological and physiological data associated with traditional and ground semen collection. Twelve of 23 Franches-Montagnes stallions were selected to carry out semen collection on a dummy and while standing in a crossed experimental protocol. Semen quantity and quality parameters, wei...
Endothelin 1 in healthy foals and in foals affected by neonatal diseases.
Theriogenology    May 4, 2015   Volume 84, Issue 5 667-673 doi: 10.1016/j.theriogenology.2015.04.026
Giordano A, Castagnetti C, Panzani S, Paltrinieri S, Freccero F, Veronesi MC.In newborn babies, endothelin 1 (ET-1), a potent vasoconstrictor, increases during septicemia and severe respiratory syndromes. Because equine neonatal sepsis (ENS) and perinatal asphyxia syndrome (PAS) are major causes of morbidity and mortality in newborn foals and because no information on the concentration of ET-1 in healthy and sick foals has been reported yet, the aims of this study were (1) to define the serum concentration of Big ET-1 in healthy neonatal foals during the first week of age; (2) to preliminarily explore the diagnostic and prognostic role of Big ET-1 during ENS and PAS. S...
Proteomics of endometrial fluid after dexamethasone treatment in mares susceptible to endometritis.
Theriogenology    April 29, 2015   Volume 84, Issue 4 617-623 doi: 10.1016/j.theriogenology.2015.04.019
Arlas TR, Wolf CA, Petrucci BP, Estanislau JF, Gregory RM, Jobim MI, Mattos RC.Corticotherapy is a common treatment in mares susceptible to endometritis. Isoflupredone improves pregnancy rates and affects the protein profile of endometrial fluid in comparison to untreated mares. Dexamethasone decreases postbreeding fluid accumulation and uterine edema; however, its effects on the protein profile of the endometrial fluid have not yet been studied. The aim of the present study was to verify the effect of dexamethasone on the protein profile of endometrial fluid, in the presence or absence of infection, from mares susceptible to persistent postbreeding endometritis. Nine su...
Effects of an anabolic steroid (Durateston) on testicular angiogenesis in peripubertal stallions.
Theriogenology    April 8, 2015   Volume 84, Issue 3 323-332 doi: 10.1016/j.theriogenology.2015.03.022
Teubner A, Müller K, Bartmann CP, Sieme H, Klug E, Zingrebe B, Schoon HA.The aim of this study was to determine the effect of the anabolic steroid testosterone on the testicular vascularization, angiogenesis and expression of angiogenic factors, and their receptors in testes of peripubertal stallions. Seven peripubertal stallions were treated with Durateston and castrated either 4 (treatment group 1 [TG1]) or 12 weeks (TG2) after the last injection. The castration of seven untreated control stallions (control group [CG]) took place within the same time. In the testicular specimens, volume density (VD), numerical density (ND), and area of vessels were determined mor...
Altered secretion of selected arachidonic acid metabolites during subclinical endometritis relative to estrous cycle stage and grade of fibrosis in mares.
Theriogenology    April 8, 2015   Volume 84, Issue 3 457-466 doi: 10.1016/j.theriogenology.2015.03.038
Gajos K, Kozdrowski R, Nowak M, Siemieniuch MJ.Mares that fail to become pregnant after repeated breeding, without showing typical signs of clinical endometritis, should be suspected of subclinical endometritis (SE). Contact with infectious agents results in altered synthesis and secretion of inflammatory mediators, including cytokines and arachidonic acid metabolites, and disturbs endometrial functional balance. To address the hypothesis that SE affects the immune endocrine status of the equine endometrium, spontaneous secretion of prostaglandin E(2) (PGE(2)), prostaglandin F(2α) (PGF(2α)), 6-keto-PGF(1α )(a metabolite of prostacyclin ...
Serum antibody immunoreactivity to equine zona protein after SpayVac vaccination.
Theriogenology    March 24, 2015   Volume 84, Issue 2 261-267 doi: 10.1016/j.theriogenology.2015.03.012
Mask TA, Schoenecker KA, Kane AJ, Ransom JI, Bruemmer JE.Immunocontraception with porcine ZP (pZP) can be an effective means of fertility control in feral horses. Previous studies suggest that antibodies produced after pZP vaccination may both inhibit fertilization and cause follicular dysgenesis. Zonastat-H, PZP-22, and SpayVac are three pZP vaccines proposed for use in horses. Although all these vaccines contain the pZP antigen, variations in antigen preparation and vaccine formulation lead to differences in antigenic properties among them. Likewise, despite numerous efficacy and safety studies of Zonastat-H and PZP-22, the contraceptive mechanism...
Long-term characteristics of idiopathic persistent corpus luteum in the mare.
Theriogenology    March 23, 2015   Volume 84, Issue 2 242-251 doi: 10.1016/j.theriogenology.2015.03.015
Santos VG, Bettencourt EM, Ginther OJ.Persistent CL (PCL; n = 10) in mares was studied daily from Day 20 (Day 0 = ovulation) to the ending ovulation. In addition, the 10 days before ovulation at the end of a PCL were compared with the end of an interovulatory interval (IOI; n = 28) during the same months. Concentration of P4, cross-sectional area of CL, and percentage of CL with Doppler signals of blood flow during PCLs remained constant from 64 to about 33 days before the end of luteolysis and then decreased linearly. Concentration of LH between Day 20 and beginning of the ovulatory LH surge increased linearly. A dominant follicl...
Relationships among nitric oxide metabolites and pulses of a PGF2α metabolite during and after luteolysis in mares.
Theriogenology    March 18, 2015   Volume 84, Issue 2 193-199 doi: 10.1016/j.theriogenology.2015.03.010
Ginther OJ, Wolf CA, Baldrighi JM, Greene JM.Hourly circulating concentrations of a PGF2α metabolite (PGFM), progesterone (P4), and LH were obtained from a reported project, and concentrations of nitric oxide (NO) metabolites (NOMs; nitrates and nitrites) were determined in eight mares. Unlike the reported project, hormone concentrations were normalized to the peak of the first PGFM pulse of luteolysis (early luteolysis), second PGFM pulse (late luteolysis), and a pulse after luteolysis. The duration of luteolysis was 23.1 ± 1.0 hours, and the peak of the first and second PGFM pulses occurred 6.5 ± 0.9 and 14.8 ± 0.8 hours after the ...
Occurrence of bacteria and polymorphonuclear leukocytes in fetal compartments at parturition; relationships with foal and mare health in the peripartum period.
Theriogenology    March 11, 2015   Volume 84, Issue 1 163-169 doi: 10.1016/j.theriogenology.2015.03.002
Hemberg E, Einarsson S, Kútvölgyi G, Lundeheim N, Bagge E, Båverud V, Jones B, Morrell JM.This study investigated the relationship of the health of the newborn foal and (1) number of polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMNLs) in the amniotic fluid, (2) bacteria present in the amniotic fluid and the venous umbilical blood, and (3) bacteria present in the uterus of the newly foaled mare. A further aim was to investigate relationships between the bacteriologic findings in the amniotic fluid, umbilical blood, and uterus postpartum. Samples were taken from 50 Standardbred trotter foaling mares from a well-managed stud in Sweden. Parturition was spontaneous in all cases. Length of pregnancy, p...
Increased cortisol release and transport stress do not influence semen quality and testosterone release in pony stallions.
Theriogenology    February 19, 2015   Volume 84, Issue 1 70-75 doi: 10.1016/j.theriogenology.2015.02.015
Deichsel K, Pasing S, Erber R, Ille N, Palme R, Aurich J, Aurich C.The use of breeding stallions for equestrian competitions requires that fertility is not negatively affected by competition or transport to the competition site. In this study, effects of cortisol release induced by road transport (600 km), adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) administration (3 × 0.5 mg synthetic ACTH) and placebo treatment on semen quality and testosterone release were investigated in Shetland stallions (N = 13) using a crossover design. Saliva for cortisol and blood for testosterone analysis were collected for 10 weeks after treatments. Semen was collected daily for 5 days di...
The recombinant equine LHβ subunit combines divergent intracellular traits of human LHβ and CGβ subunits.
Theriogenology    January 29, 2015   Volume 83, Issue 9 1469-1476 doi: 10.1016/j.theriogenology.2015.01.026
Cohen L, Bousfield GR, Ben-Menahem D.The pituitary LHβ and placental CGβ subunits are products of different genes in primates. The major structural difference between the two subunits is in the carboxy-terminal region, where the short carboxyl sequence of hLHβ is replaced by a longer O-glycosylated carboxy-terminal peptide in hCGβ. In association with this structural deviation, there are marked differences in the secretion kinetics and polarized routing of the two subunits. In equids, however, the CGβ and LHβ subunits are products of the same gene expressed in the placenta and pituitary (LHβ), and both contain a carboxy-te...
The effect of the interval from PGF treatment to ovulation on embryo recovery and pregnancy rate in the mare.
Theriogenology    January 16, 2015   Volume 83, Issue 8 1272-1278 doi: 10.1016/j.theriogenology.2015.01.010
Cuervo-Arango J, Mateu-Sánchez S, Aguilar JJ, Nielsen JM, Etcharren V, Vettorazzi ML, Newcombe JR.The objective of this study was to determine the effect of the interval from induced luteolysis to ovulation on fertility of mares from two different farms. At farm 1, 215 mares were inseminated with frozen/thawed semen during 513 estrous cycles over seven consecutive breeding seasons. Estrus was induced with analogues of PGF2α in 179 cycles. At farm 2, 375 embryo flushings were performed in 65 donor mares inseminated with fresh semen; of which, 327 were performed following artificial insemination after PGF-induced luteolysis. In both farms, the intervals from PGF treatment to ovulation (ITO)...
