Borisevich IV, Potryvaeva NV, Mel'nikov SA, Evseev AA, Krasnianskiĭ VP, Maksimov VA.Immunoglobulin (Ig) against Marburg fever (MF) has been obtained from the equine serum. In terms of physicochemical and immunobiological properties, the obtained preparation corresponds to the quality of heterologous commercial immunoglobulins. The application of Marburg virus (MV) Ig with a titer of no less than 1:2048 by the emergency prevention scheme 1-2 hours after intraperitoneal inoculation of guinea pigs with MV in a dose of 20-50 LD50 protected 88-100% of the animals from death. MV Ig is recommended for emergency prevention of human MF.

Repeated cycles of immunization led to a rise in antibody titres to 1:4096.
[The immunogenic properties of a recombinant vaccinia virus with an incorporated DNA copy of the 26S RNA of the Venezuelan equine encephalomyelitis virus].
Voprosy virusologii    September 1, 1993   Volume 38, Issue 5 222-226
Sviatchenko VA, Agapov EV, Urmanov IKh, Serpinskiĭ OI, Frolov IV, Kolykhalov AA, Ryzhikov AB, Netesov SV.A recombinant strain of vaccinia virus (VR26) containing a DNA-copy of the subgenomic 26S RNA of Venezuelan equine encephalomyelitis virus (VEE) inserted into the coding region of thymidine kinase (TK) gene was produced. This subgenomic RNA contained the genes for all structural proteins of the VEE virus, the strain Trinidad donkey (TRD). VR26 effectively expressed VEE virus glycoproteins on the membranes of the infected cells. Blood sera of VR26-immunized animals were found to contain VEE virus-specific antibodies. VR26-immunized mice and rabbits showed a high level of resistance to subcutane...
[The differentiation of viruses in the Venezuelan equine encephalomyelitis complex by using monoclonal antibodies and lanthanide immunofluorescence analysis].
Voprosy virusologii    May 1, 1991   Volume 36, Issue 3 226-229
Gaĭdamovich SIa, Pomelova VG, Lavrova NA, Mel'nikova EE, Sokolova MV, Kharitonenkov IG, Zlobin VN.Potentialities of differentiation between Venezuelan equine encephalomyelitis (VEE) complex viruses by time-resolved fluoroimmunoassay and enzyme immunoassay were studied. For this, 4 test systems were used based on different combinations of native and labeled polyclonal antibodies to VEE virus, strain Trinidad, and monoclonal (MCA) antibody MAK 14-7 to protein EL of this virus. The maximal sensitivity and specificity was achieved in the test system formed from native MCA MAK 14-7 for sensitization of the solid phase and labeled polyclonal immunoglobulins for demonstration of the test results....

[Concentration of the Venezuelan equine encephalomyelitis virus in a 2-phase system of water-soluble polymers].
Voprosy virusologii    September 1, 1986   Volume 31, Issue 5 584-587
Pomelova VG, Gaĭdamovich SIa, Demenev VA, Kadoshnikov IuP.A three-step concentration of Venezuelan equine encephalomyelitis (VEE) virus from tissue culture fluid was carried out in a two-phase system of polyethyleneglycol (PEG)--sodium dextran sulphate (SDS). The concentration method was based on the dependence of virus distribution coefficient upon NaCl content in the system which allowed alternating transfer of the virus from one phase of the system into the other. The infectious activity of the virus increased approximately 100-fold after the first step, 190-fold after the second, and 300-fold after the third step. The process of concentration was...
[Study of combined foci of mosquito-transmitted arbovirus infections].
Voprosy virusologii    September 1, 1981   Issue 5 611-615
Bochkova NG, Koreshkova GV, Pogodina VV.A total of 5227 serum specimens from humans, horses and swine collected in the seasons of 1968--1976 in 15 administrative areas of the Primorskiy Kray were examined with antigens of a number of mosquito-borne arboviruses: Japanese encephalitis (JE), West Nile (WN), Getah, and Sindbis. Both independent and combined circulation of these viruses in the region was established. Sindbis virus was found to be circulating separately most frequently, West Nile virus the least frequently. According to the results of the serological analysis, the conditions for combined circulation are most closely relat...
[Characteristics of the ecology of the eastern equine encephalomyelitis virus in the Republic of Cuba].
Voprosy virusologii    January 1, 1977   Issue 1 62-70
Berezin VV.Virologic and serological surveys of wild vertebrates carried out in various provinces of Cuba demonstrated definitely that birds were the main hosts of eastern equine encephalomyelitis (EEE) virus in this territory. Fifteen strains of this virus were isolated from 8 species of birds belonging to 5 orders. Isolation of EEE virus from the blood of the endemic genus of iguanas indicates a certain role of cold-blooded animals in the ecology of this agent. Active EEE virus foci have been found in 4 provinces of the Republic of Cuba: Pinar del Rio, Havana, Matanzas and Las Villas. Isolation of a nu...
[Preparative isolation of alpha 2-macroglobulin, transferrin, albumin and study of their nonspecific gamma-inhibitory activity].
Voprosy virusologii    July 1, 1976   Issue 4 461-464
Saiatov MKh, Beĭsembaeva RU.Profiles of distribution of non-specific gamma-inhibitors of influenza A2/Victoria/35/72 in donkey and horse sera were established by gel chromatography in Sephadex G-200. High and low molecular inhibitors were found in 19S and 4S serum fractions. Highly purified preparations of a2-macroglobulin, transferrine and albumin were isolated by a combination of methods of salt precipitation, gel chromatography on Sephadex G-100, G-200 and ion exchange on DEAE-Sephadex A-50. Heating sera resulted in a considerable increase of the antiviral activity of a2-macroglobulin and transferrine and a reduction ...
