Leptospiral antibodies in serum from cattle, swine, horses, deer, sheep, and goats: 1973 and 1974. During 2 years (fiscal years 1973 and 1974), microscopic agglutination tests were performed on 12,565 serums from cattle, swine, horses, deer, sheep, and goats for the detection of leptospiral antibodies. The most frequent presumptive infecting serogroups were Hebdomadis, Pomona, Autumnalis, Ballum, Australis, and Canicola.
A serologic survey of pronghorns in Alberta and Saskatchewan, 1970-1972. Leptospirosis in Ethiopia: a serological survey in domestic and wild animals. Seven hundred and fifty-eight serum samples from domestic and wild animals in Ethiopia were tested for leptospiral antibodies by the microscopic agglutination test. Investigations on the presence of antibodies to several alphaviruses in humans and domestic animals of a region with elevated epidemiological potential. Limitations of immunofluorescence tests in the diagnosis of infectious mononucleosis. The relative value of heterophil agglutinins (HA) and of specific EBV antibodies in the diagnosis of infectious mononucleosis (IM) was assessed in 108 cases of the disease and in 280 controls. Among the 108 cases 93 were HA-positive by sheep cells in at least one of their sera, while 15 were HA-negative by the same test. Occurrence of antibodies to group specific chlamydia antigen in Finnish sheep, cattle and horse sera. A serological survey on the occurrence of group-specific chlamydial antibodies in random sera of Finnish sheep, cattle and horses was performed. The whole material consisted of 1347 serum samples, including 432 ovine, 454 bovine and 461 equine sera. The sera were sent to the laboratory for various serological tests during 1968–1972. Survey of histoplasmin skin test reactions among horses in Mexico. In a 3-month period, 2,221 Mexican horses were skin tested for sensitivity to Histoplasma capsulatum antigen. The prevalence of reactivity was 7.9%. There was little evidence of a difference in geographic distribution of sensitivity. The prevalence of reactivity increased with age of the horse. This increment with age is thought to be a function of time exposure to the organism and possibly of selective survival of the horses.
