Hoof repair and glue-on shoe adhesive technology.
Abstract: There are many different commercially available hoof repair/adhesive products. The application of these products in the treatment of various foot conditions is continuing to evolve based on sound medical and farriery principles as well as imagination. Successful application of these products depends largely on using proper hoof wall preparation and adhesive application techniques. Success also depends on a realistic expectation of the final outcome when accounting for the physical limitations of the adhesive products and the underlying hoof problem. Our results with these techniques have been encouraging and rewarding.

The research article explores the various commercial hoof repair and adhesive products, their application in treating different foot conditions in horses, and the factors contributing to their successful application like proper hoof wall preparation and realistic expectations from the products.
Understanding the Research
The research centers around various hoof repair/adhesive products available in the market and their effective application in treating different foot conditions in horses.
- The researchers are closely investigating the usage of these products, how their application has been evolving over time based on medical and farriery principles as well as innovative thought processes.
- The success of these products is not just based on the quality or type of adhesive used, but significantly depends on the right method of hoof wall preparation and application techniques.
- An important factor that is emphasized is the necessity of having a realistic expectation of the outcome. This requires understanding the physical limitations of the adhesive products and the specific hoof problem for which they are used.
- Through their research, the researchers have discovered encouraging and rewarding results with these techniques of application.
Implications of the Research
This research has significant repercussions for veterinary science, farriery, and the health and wellbeing of horses.
- It provides a comprehensive look at various commercial hoof repair products, their appropriate application, and their potential efficacy in different foot conditions.
- The research reinforces the importance of correct hoof wall preparation and adhesive application techniques, moving beyond the simplistic approach of relying only on the quality of adhesive.
- By emphasizing realistic expectations from these products, the research directs attention towards understanding the limitations of these products and how they interact with different hoof conditions.
- The researchers’ promising results suggest new methods for improving hoof health and overall horse wellbeing, potentially leading to better treatment strategies for equine foot conditions.
