Fermentation solubles are the liquid or semi-liquid co-products remaining after microbial fermentation processes, typically from the production of ethanol, antibiotics, or other microbial products. These solubles may originate from corn, wheat, or other carbohydrate-rich substrates used in industrial fermentations. After the primary fermentation process, the remaining liquids contain residual yeast, amino acids, vitamins, organic acids, and other microbial metabolites.
In animal feed, fermentation solubles are valued for their nutrient content, particularly their protein and B-vitamin fractions. They are commonly added to feed formulations to enhance palatability and provide supplemental nutrition. When included in horse diets, they are usually part of dried distillers grains with solubles (DDGS) or similar co-products, contributing to protein and energy intake.
The following equine feeds, supplements and products contain Fermentation Solubles as an ingredient.
