Manganese
Manganese is an essential trace mineral that plays a critical role in enzyme function, bone development, and carbohydrate metabolism in horses. It is a cofactor for several enzymatic reactions, including those involved in antioxidant defense, cartilage formation, and energy production. Manganese is also necessary for proper lipid and amino acid metabolism.
In equine diets, manganese is naturally present in forages, supplementation may be required in diets that grown in manganese-poor soils. Common sources of supplemental manganese include manganese oxide, manganese sulfate, and chelated forms, which may offer improved bioavailability
