Enterococcus faecium
Enterococcus faecium is a species of lactic acid bacteria commonly used as a probiotic in animal feed, including formulations for horses. It is a Gram-positive, facultatively anaerobic bacterium that naturally inhabits the gastrointestinal tract of animals.
In equine nutrition, E. faecium is added to feed products to help support gut microbial balance and maintain intestinal health. As a probiotic, it can aid in stabilizing the gut flora, especially during times of stress, dietary changes, or antibiotic use.
