Follicular dynamics were studied during 12 interovulatory intervals (IOIs) and 36 preovulatory periods in Miniature mares. Plasma concentrations of FSH, LH, oestradiol and progesterone were studied daily during 12 interovulatory intervals and 21 periovulatory periods in nine Miniature ponies. Obesity is associated with altered metabolic and reproductive activity in the mare: effects of metformin on insulin sensitivity and reproductive cyclicity. In mares, obesity is associated with continuous reproductive activity during the non-breeding season. Expression of endothelial and inducible nitric oxide synthases is modulated in the endometrium of cyclic and early pregnant mares. The expression of the endothelial and inducible nitric oxide synthases (eNOS and iNOS, respectively) was examined in the endometrium of cyclic and pregnant mares by real-time polymerase chain reaction and immunohistology. Developmental changes in pulmonary and renal angiotensin-converting enzyme concentration in fetal and neonatal horses. Angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) has an active role in the control of blood pressure and body fluid homeostasis both before and after birth. This study investigated the ontogeny of pulmonary and renal ACE concentrations in fetal and neonatal horses. Fetal pulmonary ACE concentration increased from 250 days towards term (c. 335 days). Non-lethal management methods are required for wild equids that are protected by law and for deer inhabiting areas where lethal controls are not legal or safe. Single or multiple inoculations of porcine zona pellucida (PZP) vaccine have been delivered to wild horses and deer by means of darts.
