Topic:Animal Species

The topic "Animal Species and Horses" explores the interactions and relationships between horses and various other animal species. This includes understanding the ecological roles horses play within their environments, as well as their interactions with domestic and wild animals. Research in this area may cover aspects such as competition for resources, symbiotic relationships, and behavioral influences between horses and other species. Studies may also investigate the impact of horses on biodiversity and ecosystem dynamics. This page compiles peer-reviewed research studies and scholarly articles that examine these interspecies relationships, focusing on the ecological, behavioral, and environmental implications of horses interacting with other animals.

In vitro synthesis of immunoglobulin-A by salivary glands from animals of different species.
Immunology    July 1, 1971   Volume 21, Issue 1 101-111
Hurlimann J, Darling H.The synthesis of immunoglobulins by the salivary glands from eight different species was studied. It has been demonstrated that salivary glands from the cow, horse, sheep, pig, rat and guinea-pig preferentially synthesize a fast migrating immunoglobulin which seems to be analogous to IgA. In three of the species, the cow, sheep and pig, the IgA-like component cross-reacts with human IgA. The IgA synthesized by the salivary glands from the rat cross-reacts with the mouse IgA. When one compares the salivary IgA from the cow, horse, sheep, pig and rat with the IgA synthesized by the lymph nodes,...

Acta veterinaria Scandinavica    January 1, 1971   Volume 12, Issue 3 445-447 doi: 10.1186/BF03547743
Nansen P, Riising HJ.The metabolism of immunoglobulin classes has been closely examined in several animal species. Although the horse has received much attention in experimental and applied immunology there seems to be little information available on immunoglobulin kinetics in this species. The present report describes the metabolism of equine IgG in 4 healthy, normoimmunoglobulinaemic horses, in 1 horse with hyperimmunoglobulinaemia and in 1 horse with relatively low immunoglobulin levels.
